On August 11, the Premier League will start its 32nd season. Newly-promoted Burnley will face Man City at Turf Moor, which will see a clash between Vincent Kompany and Pep Guardiola. The new season promises a challenging competition where several teams at once will be fighting for the championship title.

The new format of the Premier League was introduced in 1992. Since then, no team has won more titles than Manchester United (13). Among the top clubs, we can note Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham. Sometimes they are also called as the “Big 6” of England.

Brief Summary of the Previous Season

The 2022/2023 season of the Premier League was exciting. City, who were trailing behind Arsenal for the majority of the time, eventually get the best of the Gunners and won the third Premier League title in a row. It was Guardiola’s fifth championship since becoming City’s head coach in 2016.

Newcastle really surprised the British fans. Eddie Howe’s side took fourth place, qualifying for the Champions League. They managed to end 20-year waiting for the European top flight.

Liverpool failed to live up to expectations. The departure of Sadio Mane heavily impacted the Reds. They only started to liven up at the end of the season, but it was not enough.

Predictions for Top Places

Similar to previous seasons, we anticipate this edition of the Premier League to be filled with emotions and excitement. The summer transfer window is still ongoing and plenty of major signings are yet to unravel. We have picked our favourite teams who will probably be competing for the title.

Man City

Undoubtedly, Pep Guardiola’s side is the most complete team in the Premier League. They have managed to win three titles in a row, which is spectacular. We think that they are capable of winning it for the fourth time, considering they have so much depth in their squad.

While the departure of İlkay Gündoğan and Riyad Mahrez is worth mentioning, they have also signed Mateo Kovacic. Also, Cityzens are favourites to finalize a deal with the Croatian star defender Josko Gvardiol.

Arsenal

Arsenal failed to clinch the long-awaited title in the previous season. However, the addition of Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber will definitely strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad. The departure of Granit Xhaka is noteworthy, but the Gunners have plenty of quality players.

Liverpool

After the rollercoaster season, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be determined to fight back and fight for the title. They have already signed World Cup champion Alexis Mac Allister and Hungarian talent Dominik Szoboszlai. Darwin Nunez’s form was questionable in the previous season, and he has a lot to prove.

The New Season Could be the Best One Ever

With plenty of high-profile signings, we believe that the upcoming season could possibly become one of the best ever. We also could not write off Newcastle and Manchester United: both of them are really impressive sides.
