MERCEDES has made a play for Williams driver Valtteri Bottas to replace the recently-retired Nico Rosberg.
Valtteri Bottas, born 28 August 1989 is a Finnish racing driver currently competing in F1 with Williams Martini Racing. He currently resides in Monaco. His current best career achievement was in 2014 when he finished 4th in the F1 World Championship.
According to Sky Sports, the Silver Arrows want Bottas to fill the void left by Nico Rosberg, but Williams have said the 27-year-old isn’t going anywhere given he is still under contract in 2017.
F1’s most dominant team allegedly tabled a bid of £5.7 million for him, according to express.co.uk.
Bottas finished eighth in the drivers championship last season, 32 points ahead of teammate Felipe Massa. Williams would be left with just the rookie driver Lance Stroll if Bottas is to leave.
